Building the capacity of
TVET in The Gambia to boost
Climate-Smart Agriculture

AGREEN GAMBIA project aims to enhance the capacity and relevance of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in The Gambia to foster sustainable rural development and support the transition to Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA). In doing so, the project contributes to improving the livelihoods, food security and climate resilience of disadvantaged communities, with a particular focus on young people and women in rural areas.

Stronger TVET Institutions

Strengthen the capacity of TVET providers by fostering public-private cooperation, ensuring that vocational training is demand-driven, aligned with industry needs, and directly contributing to economic and environmental sustainability.

Future-Ready Skills

Enhance the relevance, quality, and accessibility of TVET education, embedding competency-based learning, digital innovation, and climate-smart principles, equipping learners with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and climate resilience.

Empowered TVET Educators

Develop a new generation of highly skilled TVET educators, trained in modern teaching methodologies, digital tools, and inclusive strategies, enabling them to deliver high-impact, student-centered training in Climate-Smart Agriculture and other priority fields.

Green & Inclusive Workforce

Align TVET training with national development strategies, integrating digitalization, green skills, and climate-responsive entrepreneurship to support economic diversification, food security, and inclusive workforce development.

AGREEN GAMBIA

is based on a multilateral partnership between organisations active in the field of VET in The Gambia and Europe, aiming to support the relevance, accessibility and responsiveness of TVET institutions and systems in The Gambia as a driver of sustainable socio-economic development. The project also intends to contribute to the broader policy objectives that are being pursued between the European Commission and The Gambia and the EU-Africa Global Gateway Investment Package.
